DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWellington (Telford) Brass Band is pleased to announce that we will be taking part in this year’s ConsTest\, which will take place on 15th April 2026. \nConsTest is a friendly and innovative online brass band contest that brings bands together from across the UK and beyond. Instead of performing live on stage\, bands record their test piece performance which is then adjudicated by a panel of respected judges. It’s a great opportunity for bands to challenge themselves\, receive valuable feedback\, and showcase their musical progress. \nFor this year’s contest\, the band will be performing the revised version of Variations on Laudate Dominum\, a powerful and expressive work that offers plenty of musical and technical challenges. The piece explores a range of moods and textures\, allowing the band to demonstrate both musicality and precision. \nTaking part in ConsTest forms an important part of the band’s preparation and development during the year\, providing another chance for the band to perform together and continue building momentum following our recent promotion to the Second Section. \nWe’re looking forward to putting the finishing touches on the piece over the coming weeks and sharing our performance as part of the contest. \nIf you’d like to follow the band’s progress\, support us\, or find out more about upcoming performances and events\, keep an eye on the Wellington (Telford) Brass Band website and social media channels for updates. \nDate: 15 April 2026Piece: Variations on Laudate Dominum (Revised Version) \nStay tuned as we prepare to put our performance to the test! 🎺 \n\n\n\n\nConsTest is an open own choice brass band competition held at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire\, that boasts a modern take on brass banding. Using the brilliant Bradshaw Hall\, bands have previously competed for numerous prizes\, including Denis Wick\, Geneva\, Mercer & Barker and Alliance products\, and the chance to work with virtuosos such as Richard Marshall. With an inaugural event taking place in 2023\, featuring Ian Porthouse and Alan Morrison as adjudicators\, ConsTest now looks towards the future\, continuing to work with an appropriate registration system facing the player crisis head on and a desire to provide a day of endless musical indulgence for all involved\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Pete\, a valued member of the band on percussion and cornet\, has dedicated many years to education and music\, inspiring countless young people along the way. As he steps into a well-earned retirement\, we wanted to celebrate his contribution in a way that reflects both his passion for music and his commitment to people.\n\n“Full Circle” feels especially fitting\, a moment to recognise Pete’s journey\, give back to the community\, and support an organisation doing vital work in mental health across Telford.\n\nAll proceeds from the evening will go to Telford Mind\, helping them continue their essential support services for individuals and families facing mental health challenges.
