Nine members of Wellington (Telford) Brass Band, Liz, Rhian, Peter, Susan, Hazel, Erica, Vicky and Lily enjoyed an unforgettable weekend in the Lake District recently as they took part in the fantastic Brass for Good<\/em> and Light the Lakes<\/em> events in support of the charity COPS (Care of Police Survivors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend began on Friday evening with the band performing at White Platts in Ambleside, entertaining visitors and helping to raise awareness for this wonderful cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real adventure started in the early hours of Saturday morning when nine hardy band members set off at 1am to climb Loughrigg Fell, instruments in hand, to perform at the summit. The effort was more than worthwhile as the musicians were rewarded with breathtaking views and a truly unique playing experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band was also accompanied by three fantastic supporters, Wendy, Mac & Mark who joined the weekend’s activities. Wendy & Mac tackled the climb up Loughrigg Fell, Wendy, who at nearly 80 years old showed us all how it’s done with her determination and enthusiasm. Their support throughout the weekend was greatly appreciated and helped make the event even more special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the way, the band inadvertently provided an unexpected wake-up call to two wild campers! Fortunately, both took it in good spirits \u2013 especially when it turned out that one was a serving soldier and the other was hoping to join the Royal Marines. Music really does bring people together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that day, the musicians continued their fundraising efforts with a two-hour performance in Rothay Park, Ambleside, helping to raise vital funds for COPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire weekend was filled with fantastic music, friendship, laughter and plenty of memorable moments. Everyone involved had an amazing time and the band is already looking forward to returning next year for another incredible weekend in the Lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in organising Brass for Good and Light the Lakes, and to all those who supported the performances and donated so generously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can’t wait to do it all again in 2027!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
