After a successful climb to the summit last Christmas, despite the weather throwing everything it could at us, members of Wellington (Telford) Brass Band are heading back to The Wrekin, and this time we’re hoping for a little more sunshine!
Last December, we carried our instruments to the top of The Wrekin to spread festive cheer with a Christmas performance overlooking Shropshire. Battling the wind and cold only made the achievement even more memorable, with walkers stopping to listen and enjoy the unexpected sound of brass echoing across the hills.
Now, we’re back to see the summer off in style!
On Saturday 29th August, we’ll once again make the climb to the summit for our Sunset Walk, performing as the sun sets over the beautiful Shropshire countryside.
This special event is more than just a walk, t’s a fundraiser to support the future of Wellington (Telford) Brass Band. Every donation will help us purchase new music, maintain instruments, support rehearsals and performances, and ensure live brass music continues to flourish in our community.
We’re also delighted to welcome members of other brass bands to join us. Bring your instrument, enjoy the climb and be part of what promises to be a truly memorable evening of music, friendship and breathtaking views.
Whether you’re climbing with us, cheering us on from below, or supporting us with a donation, we’d love you to be part of our journey.
After bringing Christmas to the top of The Wrekin, we’re now inviting everyone to help us wave goodbye to summer in style, and what a summer it’s been for Wellington (Telford) Brass Band. With a bit of luck, the only thing we’ll be battling this time is who gets the best view of the sunset! 🌅🎺
